Do you suffer from migraines?
Do your jaw joints click, pop, grind and cause you pain?
Do you grind your teeth, experience frequent neck problems, sensitive and sore teeth, facial pain and / or any other related discomfort?
You may be one of the many undiagnosed TMJ Disorder sufferers.
The TMJ Joint (Temporomandibular Joint) refers to the two joints located in front of the ears. TMJ Dysfunction is the name given to conditions affecting this joint. Instigated by bad bite, TMJ Dysfunction can be extremely painful and cause chronic facial pain for sufferers.
TMJ Joint operates as a “ball and socket”, and depends on proper alignment of muscles, and often teeth to work smoothly. This is a very complex system that is just beginning to be understood. Important in many ways, the TMJ Joint is necessary for opening and closing the mouth, chewing, swallowing, breathing, talking, yawning and kissing. Stress is a key contributor to this condition. Stress causes the patient to clench down on the jaw, which compresses the jaw points and eventually results in bad bite.
At Dental Professional Lane Cove we are able to treat and diagnose patients suffering from TMJ Dysfunction. Treatment for TMJ Dysfunction varies depending on the severity of each individual case. |
